Warm Hands

I know it's still summer and fairly warm here in the South West of England but it's getting cooler out there and nights are definitely getting a lot colder. It's September, the kids are going back to school which also means my workshop programme is starting. I'm kicking off with a blast this week with two workshops. Today I'm teaching Professional Finishing Techniques at Social Fabric and on Friday I'm teaching Mittens & Gloves at Spin A Yarn.
And it's Mittens & Gloves I want to talk to you about today. Have you ever knitted mittens? or gloves? They're fun to knit and very quick. You can make them as easy or as challenging as you like. Choose a basic stocking stitch fingerless handwarmers for a quick and easy pair or go for a complicated fair isle pattern, perhaps a traditional Latvian or Selbu (from Norway) pattern for a fancy pair of mittens?
Whatever you fancy knitting to keep your hands warm this winter, this class is for you. You'll learn how to knit in the round using double pointed needles and the magic loop technique on circular needles, how to shape a thumb gusset, how to knit the fingers (which are the most challenging part of knitting gloves), how to shape the top of a mitten.
After this class you will feel confident knitting a whole wardrobe full of handwear. Why not knit everyone gloves and mittens for Christmas this year? The teens will love fingerless gloves or a pair of flip top mittens. Adults will love gloves or mittens to keep their hands warm while walking the dog, cycling to work or whatever they get up to in the winter.
So if you live within reach of Spin A Yarn in Bovey Tracey in Devon and are free on Friday, contact Spin A Yarn to book your space. I know there are a few spaces left.

For the rest of the classes I'm teaching this autumn please check out my schedule.
