Vogue Knitting

Most freelance designers have certain magazines and yarn companies that they would love to design for. I am proud of all my published designs. Every time a design is published in a magazine I get excited. For most freelance designers Vogue Knitting is probably pretty high up on their list of publications they want to design for.  It was certainly one of my goals.

I was so excited last spring when I got an e-mail from the lovely people at Vogue Knitting to say they wanted to commission my design. It's been a very hard job to keep it secret for this long.

Look at the cover! Isn't it fab. I love that sweater (it's not my design though). And by the way, if you live in the UK Vogue Knitting is called 'Designer Knitting'.
Fisherman's ribs are a big trend on the cat walks for the coming autumn season. I took my inspiration from the fisherman's ribs but I added a bit of feminine lace to create this fabolous, fashionable Lace & Fisherman's Rib Pullover.

I love the styling in the official photo above and can't wait to get my copy of the magazine. Below is a close up of the raglan shaping and you can see the lacy fisherman's rib more clearly.
The sweater is worked in the round from the bottom up with 3/4 length sleeves and raglan shaping and a funnel neck. I had great fun knitting this weater.

One of the great things about designing for American magazines/publications is that sometimes you get to try yarns that aren't available in the UK. This is the second time I've designed with a Classic Elite yarn (I designed 3 accessories for a book last year). Classic Elite Woodland is a blend of wool and nettle and is beautiful and light to knit with.

You can see all the other designs in Vogue Knitting Fall 2013 here.  And here's the link to my Lace & Fisherman's Rib Pullover. There are some amazing designs. I'm so honoured to be included. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this issue.
