Making Waves in Simply Crochet

Have you seen Simply Crochet yet? Simply Crochet was launched earlier this year and is published by the team behing The Knitter, Simply Knitting and Mollie Makes. Simply Crochet has a fresh, modern look similar to Mollie Makes. The focus is on easier crochet patterns with a lot of homewares and accessories and a few garments.

'Making Waves' is my first design for Simply Crochet but there are several more to come. Two which I'm about to post off this week and another one which I'm currently working on.
'Making Waves' is a simple lacy poncho. It's crocheted as a flat rectangle which is then folded and part of the long sides are joined leaving a hole for the head.
It's a quick garment to make and perfect to throw over your shoulders on chilly summer evenings, or even in the office or while crafting at home all year round. If you prefer you could just leave it as a rectangle and wear it as a shawl. The yarn is the beautiful, warm and light Artesano Alpaca 4ply which is perfect for crochet and soft and warm.
The stitch pattern is very simple and will make a quick piece for experienced crocheters and be easy to work for new crocheters. Leni made the sample for me and she did a great job.

The magazine sample actually arrived back to me today. I wish I was a few sizes smaller so I could wear it.

Look out for more crochet designs from me in Simply Crochet and in other crochet magazines later this year.

This is a beautiful pattern! I'm making it right now (literally, it's on my lap) and can't wait to sew it together and wear it! I love your design.
