Introducing Suzette

I've been so busy enjoying my holiday that I forgot to blog about some new designs. The first one I'll tell you about today but do come back tomorrow to see my new crochet design.

The current issue of Let's Knit, issue 70 features my design 'Suzette'. This pretty and feminine top was knitted in Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply. This is a gorgeous, luxurious merino hand-dyed sock yarn. It creates a beautiful light weight sweater which will still be lovely and warm.
The colour chosen for the magazine sample is in a semi-solid colourway but due to the large areas of stocking stitch this sweater is perfect if you want to opt for a more variegated colourway.

The sweater has a pretty lacy border around the hems of both body and the 3/4 length sleeves as well as around teh neckline. In addition there is waist shaping for a fitted look.
I knitted this sweater myself and really enjoyed it. A lot of people make a lot of fuss about knitting with 4ply (fingering weight) yarns, thinking it takes forever because the yarn is so thin but really it doesn't take much longer than if you knit with DK and you get a sweater that's much more versatile.  Why not try it with this sweater?

I have been looking at this design and wondering whether to make it. I do currently have a 4 ply project on the needles, and it is taking time as it is a dark blue with a travelling cable pattern that is best done in full light, and I feel guilty sitting down to knit during the day when I have other things to do. But I think I'll definitely have a go at this design.

The great thing about this design is that it's a lot of stocking stitch which makes it very quick, despite being 4ply.
