New Simplicity

My Simplicity Shawlette is now available as a triangular version as well as the original half-hexagon version.
This version is knitted in Twinkletoes Sock. I love it. So light and soft to wrap around your neck or across your shoulders.
P
Perfect as a first lace project for lace beginners or a quick and easy project for more experienced knitters.
Makes perfect take along travel knitting.
Other yarn weights can easily be substituted and it can easily be made larger if preferred.
If you've previously bought this pattern on Ravelry you will have been sent a notification to your Paypal e-mail adress so you can download the new version. I'm uploading the new version on Patternfish too.
You can buy the pattern here.

I love this shawl;maybe my next project! Anni I have one ball of your cashmere yarn(I have had it for some time). It is only 50grms is there any of your shawls that can be made with that amount of yarn?

Is it 50 gr of lace weight cashmere? I think it probably is, in which case it'll have around 400m I think.

you can knit one of the sock yarn shawlettes: Simplicity, Carmen, Ocean Waves, Amore or the Elegance scarf.

Anni, thanks for the beautiful pattern. I just bought it today and I'm one of the "new-to-lace" knitters. I'm already not understanding the very beginning, DAH! After the CO, "Work 80 rows as set"... Please tell me what that means? Thanks!!

First you need to decide if you're going to do the half hexagon shape or triangular shape. then cast on and look under the halfhexagon or triangular headlines and it will tell you how to work row 1, 3 and all wrong side rows and the eyelet rows. so when it says work 80 (58) rows it means work the rows as set for the triangular shawl or half hexagon shawl.

For example if you decide to knit the triangular shawl:
Row 1: Row 1: k2, yo, k1, yo, pm (place marker), k1, yo, k1, yo, k2.
Row 2: k all sts.
Row 3: k2, yo, k to marker, yo, sm (slip marker), k1, yo, k to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
Row 4: k all sts.
Row 5: K2, yo, k to marker, yo, sm, k1, yo, k to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
Row 6: k all sts.
Row 7: k2, yo, k to marker, yo, sm, k1, yo, k to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
And continue as above = as set.

After 80 rows or 58 if you do the halfhexagon shape, work the first eyelet row - see below the half hexagon shawl or triangular shawl headline where it'll tell you how to do it.

Anni,
I've just picked up the project again after a busy couple weeks. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time figuring this out. I did the first 8 rows as the set... so now I'm onto the 2nd set so do I totally repeat the next 8 rows as written because the first row says to PM.
Thanks for your help.

Hi, putting down a project for a few weeks is always a mistake as it's so easy to forget what we're doing. Don't worry though it's easy to do. Life gets busy.

Once you've done the first few rows, the marker should be just before the centre st on the triangular version and before the st a third of the way across and the 2/3 of the way across for the half hexagon shape. You should see that the st after the marker forms a sort of 'spine' by now with a yarn over either side.

You will always:
for the triangular version: k2, yo, work to marker, yo, k1, yo, work to last 2 sts, yo, k2.
for the half hexagon: k2, yo, work to first marker, yo, k1, yo, work to second marker, yo, k1, yo, work to last 2 sts, yo, k2.

On rows 1-80 (or 58 on half hexagon version). you know every right side row as I've described above. Work means knit on the first 80 (58) rows.

for the eyelet rows follow the insructions for the eyelet rows and for the plain rows follow the instructions as above.

Does that make sense? The best thing to do until you really get into a project is to try to knit a little bit every day or as often as you can. Just 5 mins means you don't forget what you were doing. I know that's not always easy when life gets in the way. Good luck nad let me know if you get stuck again.
