The Knitter 111 - Sitwell

Have you seen issue 111 of The Knitter yet? I've designed a beautiful crescent shawl called Sitwell. The Knitter says: 'Wrap your shoulders in this wide crescent shawl, created for us by Anniken Allis. She has chosen a lovely hand-dyed sock yarn which showcases the lace pattern beautifully. The stitch patterns are both charted and written out for you.'

Sitwell is worked from the centre top and starts with stocking stitch while you get used to the shaping. It then flows into a dramatic lace pattern and ends in a gently scalloped edging.

I used Tough Sock from The Uncommon Thread in a beautiful light grey which goes with everything. Wear this shawl with a dress in the summer or wrap it around your neck like a scarf in the winter. This crescent shape is very versatile. If you're concerned about blocking this shape, I've got two tutorials on how to block a crescent shape here and here.
