The front and back are worked separately and then stitches are picked up for the drop shoulder sleeves. This leaves less finishing and no complicated shaping to worry about. Perfect as a first sweater project for novice knitters or a quick project for more experienced knitters. The lace pattern is fairly easy and the pattern has both charts and written instructions.
The most exciting thing about Chaumont is that the yarn is spun at a mill about 30 mins from where I live. Chaumont is knitted in Blacker Yarns Lyonesse which is a linen blend yarn and I used DK for the body and 4ply for the sleeves.
Look out for the next two issues of The Knitter as I have patterns in both of those as well.
