There are days when I log on to Ravelry, head to my designer page and squeal with delight when I see that a new project I designed has been published (some publishers list all their projects on Ravelry, others leave designers to do it). A few weeks ago I noticed a new design had appeared in my profile.
I designed this shawl last autumn and to be honest, I'd sort of forgotten about it so it was a lovely surprise to see the photos. The Lacy Loop-Edged Shawl is part of '60 Quick Luxury Knits' which is the latest in the '60 Quick' books from Cascade Yarns and Sixth&Spring Books (who also publish Vogue Knitting/Designer Knitting, the Debbie Bliss Magazine, Noro Magazine and much much more). All the designs in this book use Cascade Yarns Venezia Sport or Worsted which is a blend of merino and silk.
My shawl is knitted in Venezia Sport, which is luscious. The shawl is worked from the top down with the triangular shape achieved by working increases at the beginning and end as well as either side of the central spine. The shawl is finished off with a crochet chain cast off (its easy even if you aren't a crocheter, I show you how here, click on the Crochet Chain Cast Off link).
I clicked through on Ravelry to look at the other designs in the book and then through to the Amazon pre-order page (this is the UK Amazon page). Suddenly I realised the shawl on the cover is mine. Yes there was another squeal of delight.
The book will be published some time this month but you can pre-order now. This isn't just a lace book, there's cables, fair isle and lots of other stuff too. See all the designs here. I'm honoured for my design to be featured in a book with so many amazing designers.
