Introducing Leona from The Knitter

Issue 71 of The Knitter is in the shops now and I've got a pretty little shawl in this issue.

Leona was knitted in Cashmered 3ply which is gorgeous to knit with. As you'd expect from a quality cashmere yarn it's incredibly soft and luxurious and comes in a wide range of gorgeous colours. This yarn is classified as a '3ply' yarn so it's between a 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn and a 'standard' lace yarn. Perfect if you find most lace yarns a bit too fine. You'll need 3 balls of Cashmered.

The shape of Leona is my favourite shape. It's worked from the top down with a centre insertion panel which creates some shoulder shaping and makes the shawl sit nicely on your shoulders. You can read more about this type of shawl shaping here. I love this shape because i find it more wearable than triangular shawls and many people don't like the point of a triangular shawl pointing to their bottom. This shawl don't have that issue as it's a more rounded shape.

A big thank you to Judy who knitted Leona for me. She did a great job.

So if you fancy a nice little shawl to cover your shoulders on a cool summer evening, pick up a copy of The Knitter issue 71 now. By the way, you can also knit this shawl in Lotus Yarns Cashmere Fingering or Silky Cashmere Fingering (both are available from my online shop) which is a slightly finer yarn. You would need 2 skeins.

Have a wonderful weekend x
