Remember that sock I cast on a few days ago? I finished it this morning. Yesterday afternoon, I realised I was ready to start the heel, so I quickly knitted through the heel flap, heel turn and picked up stitches for the gusset. I even got through most of the gusset decreases before we left for the cinema in the evening.
Simon and Em went to see one film and I went to see 'The secret life of Walter Mitty'. I must have looke a bit 'sad' going to the cinema on my own on new years eve and in addition knitting a sock. We did have a bit of a laugh about that afterwards. I enjoyed the film though and 2/3 of the way through I realised the foot on my sock was looking light it might be long enough. This morning i double-checked and finished the toe.
While I was watching the New Years Concert from Vienna this morning I cast on for sock no 2. The weather has been awful today so we stayed in and enjoyed a 'Spooks' marathon on Love Film. After 3 episodes I'm about half-way through the gusset decreases. If I put my mind to it, I could finish the sock tonight but I've got some work knitting to do. I've got three deadlines on Friday. One is already on it's way across the Atlantic and the other two will be posted tomorrow. One needs a little bit of finishing doing on it tonight. So, sock no 2 will have to wait till tomorrow.
I'm still on holiday and have enjoyed a quite lazy Christmas holiday. I deserved a rest after an incredibly busy 2013. I'm amazed at what's happened this year and I'll do a proper round up post next week sometime. This year has been so amazing it deserves a proper blogpost.
2014 is going to be even more amazing. I'm about to sign a contract for an amazing project. I'm just waiting to have a few last minute questions answered. It's a project that'll keep me very busy for the first half of this year.
I've also got a lot of workshops booked for this year. I've updated my workshop calendar up to end of March and will get it updated up to the summer holidays next week when I'm officially back at work.
I'm teaching in a few new locations including The Jersey Textile Showcase. I'm teaching there for 5 days! I'm incredibly excited about this event. There's an amzing line up of textile teachers. So why not treat yourself to break in Jersey and book some of your favourite textile classes.
I'll blog more about this year's classes in a few days. Now, it's getting late and I need to get a little bit of work done today. It's been good to enjoy a lazy start to 2014 because I know as soon as I'm officially back at work next week, it's going to get busy and I won't have time to knit half a sock in an afternoon, like I did today.
Happy New Year!
