The Knitter issue 50

Before I tell you about my new design in The Knitter, I want to reveal some breaking news!
I'm off to London next week and I'll be teaching at Iknit London on Wednesday 10th October. This is your chance to catch my very popular 'Continental Knitting with Norwegian purl' workshop in London. It's one of my most popular ones. I'm teaching this 4 hour class from 4.30 to 8.30pm. So even if you're working you may be able to catch it. I'm really excited about this and hope to see you at Iknit next week.

I'm really honoured to be part of the 50th issue of The Knitter. I've been reading The Knitter since it started and it's been great to see the magazine develop. it's also been an honour to be regularly published by The Knitter.
The Knitter always do a great job with photography and I'm never disappointed with how they photograph my designs.

My design in this current issue, Natalia, is inspired by traditional Orenburg (Russia) lace patterns. I've used a combination of these traditional Orenburg patterns for this rectangular stole. Traditional Orenburg lace had lace patterning on both sides, which means they were knitting lace patterns on both right and wrong side rows. I prefer to have every other row as a plain knit or purl row though and that's what you get in this pattern. It makes the knitting much more relaxing.
The gorgeous gold yarn is Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace in a beautiful gold colour. Leni, aka The Fluffy Viking, knitted this shawl for me and she did a great job (as always!) and I'm very thankful to her.

Have you signed up for the Mystery KAL yet? Lots of knitters have. If you are one of those who've already signed up then thank you very much. Remember if you're unsure of your lace knitting skills or a bit daunted by the idea of a lace shawl then sign up for the online mystery shawl kal class where I'll be showing you how to knit lace and guiding you through every step. If you're worried about having time to keep up then choose the small version.
