Passion Flowers

The weather is getting cooler here in the UK and my hands are frequently cold. So I designed a new pair of hand-warmers - Passion Flowers - which I've already been wearing regularly. The name was chosen after asking members of my Facebook group, and followers of my Facebook page and Instagram for suggestions. I got so many wonderful suggestions but Passion Flowers stood out to me.

A delicate lace pattern twists its way up these fingerless mittens and opens up into an exotic flower represented by the beads. The beads are added using the crochet hook method. Here's my tutorial.

Passion Flowers can be worked on either double pointed needles or circular needles using the magic loop technique. You may also be okay using the tiny 9inch circular needles if you prefer.

I used 1/2 ball of Schoppel Crazy Zauberball in shade: 2204. You will have plenty of yarn to make the hand-warmers longer but you will need more beads. As you can just see in the photo below, I didn't add beads to the palm of the hand as I find it more comfortable without beads here. I wear hand-warmers all the time in the winter: when I work, knit, drive, shop, go for a walk etc.

Passion Flowers come in two sizes but as the fabric is very stretchy they will fit a variety of hand widths and can easily be made longer, just remember you'll need more beads. I'm modelling the larger size in the photos which will actually fit a man-sized hand (yes I've got man-sized hands).
