Spring Sample Sale

I've been designing for magazines and self-publishing since 2007 and in that time I've designed hundreds of patterns. The majority of the magazines I design for return the samples to me so I've got boxes and boxes of sweaters that are size 8-10 which I can't wear. I've given away a few over the years to family members who are that size and charity shops, but I've still got boxes of samples in my office and in my wardrobe and I'm running out of space.

I've also got several boxes of old shawl samples. Many of them were knitted in my hand-dyed yarn and since I gave up hand-dyeing yarn, I've had many of them re-knitted in yarns I currently stock in the YarnAddict Shop. I'm keeping a few of my hand-dyed shawls but I've got lots I'm prepared to get rid of.

I've been contemplating a sample sale for a long time now. And I've finally decided that rather than getting all of it ready to list in one go, I'll just start listing them over the next few weeks and keep going until I sell it all.

Asymmetrical Madeline Tosh shawl - not published.

So starting today, I'll be listing shawls and sweaters/cardigans on my Instagram and Facebook pages. If you don't have the Instagram app, you can use their website, check my profile page to see the listings.

Here's how it'll work:

  • I'll list a garment/shawl with details about size and yarn used together with price.
  • Price will include UK/European Signed For Shipping.
  • International Shipping will be £5 extra.
  • Sales are final and items can not be returned.
  • Sales will be on a first come, first served basis.
  • Comment SOLD with your Paypal e-mail.
  • Please pay within 24 hours of receiving the Paypal invoice. If not I'll offer it to the next on the list.

I'm planning to sell the samples at reduced prices but please remember that these are hand-knitted pieces and use good quality yarns, many of them are knitted in luxury yarns.

I will alternate between listing on Instagram and Facebook (I won't list the same item on both sites at the same time). If an item doesn't sell within a day or two, I'll list it on the other site. So if I list an item on Instagram and it doesn't sell, I'll list it on Facebook and vice versa.

If you don't want to miss out on any listings, follow me on both Instagram and Facebook. On Instagram you can turn on notifications: go to my profile page and click on the three dots (on my IG app, it's in the top right corner but it may vary from device to device), then click on 'turn on notifications'. I'm not sure if you can do this if you use the Instagram website.

If you don't use either of these sites and aren't willing to sign up, then I'm sorry but you'll miss out initially. If items don't sell on either, I'm likely to list them on my website (the reason I don't list them on my website straight away is because it's more time consuming).

Any questions, please ask in the comments.
