This weekend it was all about socks. On the train back from Reading on Saturday (I'd been teaching in Berkshire for 3 days - more on that later this week), I worked on my Rainbow socks although I felt like I should work on Simon's socks to get them finished. On Sunday I was exhausted after three days of teaching three fairly demanding workshops and all I planned to do was watch TV and knit. I should have been working on a deadline project which I need to finish this week but decided I deserved the day off completely from work so I decided to try to finish Simon's Christmas socks - yes Christmas 2015. I was working these two at a time using my Creme Brulee pattern. I had most of the feet on both socks to do and surprised myself by finishing them early yesterday afternoon. They fit perfectly but I didn't get a modelled shot. Simon put them straight on to wear with his walking boots when he walked the dog yesterday.
I then turned my attention to my sparkly Opal Rainbow (colour 9090) socks. I'd finished the first one and cast on for the second one during my trip last week. I did most of the leg on the train home on Saturday evening. After I'd finished Simon's socks, I put in the waste yarn for the heel on the rainbow socks and continued down the foot. To my surprise I finished these socks yesterday too. Below is where I started from yesterday afternoon.
I used my Creme Brulee pattern again but I did an afterthought heel on these socks. An afterthought heel allowed me to keep the stripes uninterrupted.
This morning I cast on for another pair of socks using another ball of sparkly Opal, colour 9093, which I bought at Unravel last month. I've started and decided to work these toe up with a lacy rib pattern. I'm not 100% sure about the lacy rib yet. I may rip it out. The yarn is quite busy so the lace isn't too visible. I'll share pictures on Instagram of my progress.
I've got to get back to a deadline project now which I need to finish by end of tomorrow so it can be blocked in time to post on Thursday. Easter means I've got to post it a day early. I've also got lots of swatching to do this week so these socks will be a long-term project. Maybe I'll get to finish them on my next teaching trip which is the first weekend in April when I'm teaching at La Mercerie in South Wales (I'm teaching Slip Stitch & Stranded (Fair Isle) Colourwork).
What did you knit this weekend? Did you finish anything? Cast on something new? Tell me in the comments.
