Making Me Happy!

The one thing that will make me very happy today is if our flight takes off on time and we get home! We should have left Jersey on Thursday afternoon but the whole island was covered in thick fog. By the time we got to the airport lots of flights had been cancelled. We were checked in and our plane actually left Exeter and was circling above Jersey but the fog didn't lift and the plane was diverted back to Exeter and our flight was cancelled.

Flybe put us up at L'Horizon at St Brelade which was nice enough and if it had been daytime and not thick fog we would have had a beautiful seaview from our ground floor balcony but the bed was like sleeping in a bouncy castle and I woke up in agony!

7am on Friday we were back at the airport. I posted prayer requests on Facebook and Twitter but all flights were cancelled. So off we went again to get our luggage and queue for re-booking and hotel allocation. I asked for a different hotel and we were booked into Hotel de France, a beautiful 4 star hotel in St Helier and we are still here. Yesterday's single Exeter flight was full so we are booked on this evening's flight. Another 3 days in Jersey might sound lovely but Simon was due to work on Friday and should have done overtime today. My parents are arriving from Norway tomorrow and I didn't finish getting their room ready before we left. They are staying in Vanessa's room. She's a student. I think you can guess the state of her room.

On Thursday before we headed to the airport one of my lovely club members, Hazel and her husband James, took us on a tour of the island. We drove past the other side of Mount Orgueil castle and the fog was so thick we could barely see the outline of the castle although I think we were closer than where this picture was taken. A big thank you to Hazel and James for looking after us on Thursday and picking us up from the airport when we arrived.

Yesterday we caught the bus out to Gorey Pier and walked around for a bit. Unfortunately my back was very bad so we didn't stay that long.

On the way back to St Helier we got off at La Rocque and walked out on the harbour wall and I did some knitting in the warm sunshine.

We are spending the morning enjoying the hotel facilities till we have to check out. Simon is planning a swim. Then we'll head out for lunch before our taxi picks us up to take us to the airport again. Its sunny and no sign of fog!

Being able to sleep in my own bed tonight and getting home to Emily will make me very happy!
