Wow, what a month this is turning out to be. If you pop in to the newsagent at the moment you'll see three British knitting magazines with my designs on the cover. I blogged about my Let's Knit cover here and The Knitter cover here.
My latest cover design is Morag on the cover of Knitting magazine:
Two of my current cover designs are knitted in West Yorkshire Spinners Bluefaced Leicester dk. I love this yarn. It's so soft and smooth but has just a little bit of grip so makes it great for fair isle too. Morag uses fair isle to create a tartan inspired stitch pattern. The sweater is worked in the round with a raglan yoke. It has an A-line shape and 3/4 length sleeves.
It's a great project for a first fair isle project as the fair isle is easy to memorise. I loved knitting this sweater. It got me hooked on fair isle again and there's more fair isle designs in the pipeline.
Morag has a wide boat neck with short rows to raise the back neck a little.
Neck and hems have a simple garter stitch edging:
This issue of Knitting is full of fabolous designs including several fair isle designs. It may still be warm and we're trying to hang on to summer for as long as possible but cooler autumn and winter weather is just around the corner so grab your needles and cast on for this warm sweater now.
