Workshops this autumn

One of my favourite things every autumn used to be to browse the adult education brochure and book and evening class or two for the autumn term. These days evening classes are in decline but luckily for us knitters yarn shops around the country are increasingly offering workshops. The advantage of these workshops, apart from being set in a beautiful yarn shop, is that they're usually only one day which is a lot easier to commit to than a whole term of weekly classes.

This autumn I'm teaching more classes than ever. I'm continuing my programme of workshops at Spin A Yarn in Bovey Tracey, Devon. If you've never visited this shop, you ought to do so asap. It's amazing with very friendly staff and a amazing selection of gorgeous yarns and patterns. You can easily spend hours in there. This autumn I'm teaching Continental Knitting with Norwegian Purl, Basic Socks, Toe Up socks, Sideways  Seamless socks, Mittens and Gloves,  Easy Lace, Lace Improvers and how to knit the Mar Menor shawlette. Spin A Yarn's autumn newsletter was sent out a week or two ago and the classes book up quickly so contact them asap to book your place. They also offer a range of amazing workshops by other amazing teachers.

I'm also adding a new venue in Devon to my schedule. Social Fabric has just opened in Totnes, Devon. And i'm really looking forward to teaching there. Caroline who owns the shop is very enthusiastic about all crafts and she's already for a full schedule of a variety of crafty workshops including classes for kids. I'll be teaching half day learn to knit and learn to crochet - these workshops are on the same day so you can attend either one or both, Basic Socks, Fun With Cables, Professional Finishing Techniques, and Mittens & Gloves.  If you're interested in any of these workshops or to find out more about the workshops on offer please visit their website

I'm also thrilled to be adding a more local shop to my venues. Coastal Yarns in Bude in Cornwall will be hosting Easy Lace on 3 September. Do check out their website for more details on this wonderful shop and to book.

I've also been invited back to Purlescence in Wantage, Oxfordshire.  I taught 2 workshops here last term and they were so much fun and i'm really excited about going back. Purlescence is an online shop which stocks some amazing yarns and knitting accessories. This time I'll be teaching Continental Knitting with Norwegian Purl and we're trying a new thing. We're offering the online class as an add on to the workshop so when you go home you can access the online course which is great for helping you practice and remember the techniques taught.

Another new venue I'm teaching at this year is The Yarn Cafe in Coventry. I'll be teaching Easy Lace. I know there are some vacancies still and this is a very popular workshop so do contact them if you live in the Coventry area, this is my first workshop in that area.

In October I'll be visiting Oxfordshire twice. As well as teaching at Purlescence, I'll be teaching Easy Lace at Wool and Willow.  This is another shop I'm very excited about teaching at. Looking at their website it looks lovely.

I am in talk about another workshop in October in London as I'll be there for a few days during the Knitting and Stitch Show at Alexandra Palace and I'll announce details as soon as they're finalised. If you'd like me to teach at a shop near you tell your local yarn shop owner to contact me. Or if you are a yarn shop owner, please do contact me. I'm almost fully booked for the autumn and I'm already getting inquiries for 2013.

You can see my full schedule of workshops here. When I get back from holiday I'll be announcing some more online workshops too including a very interesting new one.
