Interweave Knit.Wear 2011

I was very lucky at the beginning of this year to have a design accepted for this new publication by Interweave. Interweave is one of the US's  premiere knitting publishers. And it's a big honour to be included in one of their magazines.

I was very relived this design was in a chunky yarn as the yarn arrived after the deadline, one of the dangers of being an overseas designer I guess. So I had to knit up this design as quickly as possible.

This design has very simple lines. The cables at the back fits in to the waist

and at the front they're worked along the front bands.

This design has built-in i-cord worked along the front edges. It was the first time I'd done a built-in i-cord and I loved the result.

Wondering where in the UK you can buy this magazine? Hulu Crafts has it in stock (as well as some other hard to get Interweave magazines). I haven't seen the actual magazine yet but I've found the preview online and it looks gorgeous.

As this is my first Interweave design I've been waiting anxiously for this all year and I'm beyond excited that it's been published. I'll be showing the magazine to everyone who'll want to see once I receive my copy.
I don't normally like photographing garments on my dress form but this cardi fitted perfectly. This cardi is designed to wear with no or negative ease.

Chunky garments can sometimes feel a bit .... well chunky ... but this cardigan is quite light and the tailored look makes it feel less chunky. But it knits up quickly. The Aslan Trends del Sur merino is gorgeous to work with. Even though I'm not normally a fan of chunky yarn I enjoyed knitting this cardi.

Congratulations! You managed to make the yarn form a finished, modern-looking piece while still having the "chunky" yarn texture. And I love the cables :)
