Spey Bay - August Knitalong

Inspired by the beautiful Spey Bay on the Moray Firth in Scotland, the Spey Bay shawl is a wide crescent with a simple lace pattern. The beads added to the edging resemble the pebbles at Spey Bay. This shawl is perfect for wrapping around your neck as a big scarf.

Spey Bay August knitalong (KAL) will start on 1 August in my Love of Lace Knitting Facebook group. I'll do a Live tutorial in the group on that day.

Pattern is now available and all Love of Lace Knitting members get an exclusive 30% off until end of August. Join the Love of Lace Knitting Facebook group to take advantage of the discount. Please answer the three questions so we can approve you quickly.

Spey Bay takes two skeins of sock/4 ply/fingering weight yarn but make sure you have 800m/100g in total. You will also need 254 size 6 seed beads, 4mm needles (80-100cm long circular is recommended but you can start on straights if preferred) and 0.75mm crochet hook for adding beads.

I was asked for a possibility to make a smaller shawl. I'll work this out in the next few days and post a note about it on the Ravelry Pattern Page so if you want a smaller one skein version look out for that.

In the weekly tutorials I will cover the various techniques needed to knit the shawl. The first Live tutorial will be on 1 August at 12noon UK time (it's the only time I can do that day unfortunately).

The KAL will continue to mid-September when we will have a prize draw for everyone who posts a photo of a finished Spey Bay shawl in the designated thread.

I hope you will join us!
