The Murano shawl is inspired by the island of Murano, famous for glass, in the Venetian lagoon. Elegant lace, delicate colours and a few subtle beads makes this the perfect summer shawl. The colours remind me of the faded pastel colours on Murano and the glass beads represent Murano’s long history of glass production.
Murano is 30% off until end of June 2017. No coupon code needed. Purchase the pattern here.
See my tutorials for how to add beads using a crochet hook and how to work the garter tab cast on recommended in the pattern.
I knitted Murano in Navia Bummull which is a gorgeous, light blend of wool and cotton with beautiful drape. The shawl takes two skeins of each colourway.
Murano is a crescent shaped shawl worked from the top down with a combination of stripes and lace.
I have Murano kits in a choice of five colourway. The kits include two balls of Navia Bummull in each of the two colourways shown, a bag of Debbie Abrahams Size 6 seed beads in colour 340 Pebble which is a beautiful grey which goes with everything. If you prefer another bead colour, let me know. 4mm (US 6) circular needles and 0.75mm (US 14) crochet hook for adding beads is not included. Pre-order the kits here. They will ship late June/early July.
