My Starlight mitts are elegant fingerless mitts, perfect for keeping your hands warm on a chilly shopping trip or at the office. Beads add a touch of glamour to an interesting and memorable lace pattern. On 10th June I'll be teaching my Starlight Workshop at Spin A Yarn in Devon.
I worked the original sample in Malabrigo Sock but I gave the original pair away to a friend and I've lost my own pair so I'm knitting up a new pair for the class next week. I chose a bright pink Opal Uni sock yarn and white beads. I love this bright pink colour. This pair will be for class and show sample but I may have to knit another pair in this colour for myself in time for the autumn.
This class will teach you to knit in the round on double pointed needles and/or magic loop, put in an afterthought thumb, how to knit an easy lace pattern, read lace charts, and how to add beads using the crochet hook method. We'll practice the techniques in the morning and in the afternoon you'll get to start your own mitts. The mitts come in two sizes and are very stretchy so will fit a variety of hand sizes and you can use any sock yarn.
I spent a couple of hours knitting on the first mitt earlier in the week and made good progress. I'm halfway to putting the thumb in. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy knitting these mitts. The lace pattern is easy and only consists of two pattern rows so it's easy to remember too. If you'd like to keep your hands warm in style this winter, join me on 10th June for the Starlight Workshop at Spin A Yarn. Contact the shop to book your space. There are 3-4 spaces left. If you can't make it to the class, then why not get the Starlight pattern.
