I love my walking foot, it makes quilting on my Singer sewing machine a breeze. But its noisy. I do the quilting on the dining room table and we have a lounge/dining room which means I can't quilt if anyone is watching TV because its too noisy. That rules out most evenings.
But yesterday I had the house to myself all day. They all came home for dinner then went out again. So plenty of time to work on this quilt after I'd finished some work in the morning. So I finished the quilting and started binding.
I'm planning to finish the binding later. I'm trying to do it all on the machine because I don't like hand sewing. As this project is coming to an end I'm already thinking about my next sewing project. I am already working on 2 quilt tops for my parents but I really want to make a bag. 'For pleats sake' is my next bag project. I've pulled out some fabric choices.
At the top is a bundle of Fat 1/8s from Oakshott and underneath that is a bundle of batik strips. I'm thinking I could patchwork those then cut the bag pieces from that fabric.
Or I can choose between the choices below.
I'm thinking as its a bag, a darker fabric is more practical as it won't show the dirt as easily. So the bikes and daisies on the blue background are front runners.
I've nearly finished a new cashmere shawl. This is Lotus Cashmere DK (which is actually a 4ply/fingering weight yarn). Have really enjoyed this shawl. Soft cashmere, lots of garter stitch, a bit of lace. What's not to love?
