Delphine 50% off

Delphine was the Lace Lovers Club pattern in April. It's been exclusive to the club since and it's not due to be released until July but as I'd like to sell it at Woolfest next weekend, I thought I'd release it to the general public a little bit early. Hopefully the club members will forgive me.

Delphine is a semi-circular shape worked from the top down using the Pi formula made popular by Elizabeth Zimmerman. I love this shawl shape but hadn't designed one for a long time.

The semi circular shape is achieved by working regular increase rows where the stitch count is doubled, the final lace section before the edging has seed beads added using the crochet hook method (here's my video demo showing how).

The shawl measures 140cm wide and 64cm deep and takes 2 skeins of Lotus Tibetan Cloud Fingering (which despite it's name is a laceweight/2ply weight yarn), which is a very soft, delicate 100% Tibetan yak yarn. Because the yak fibres are very short and this yarn is very fine, it does pull apart easily. My yarn did break a few times when I pulled on it too hard, so be careful, especially while winding into a ball.

If you prefer, you could also knit this in Lotus Cashmere Fingering or Silky Cashmere Fingering (both of these yarns are 2ply/lace weight too but slightly thicker than the Tibetan Cloud) but you'd need 3 skeins.

As I mentioned before, this was the April design for the Lace Lovers Club. In September I'm starting a new club, The Little Luxuries Club, which will have beautiful yarns and patterns and you can read all the details and sign up here.

As a special launch offer, you can now buy Delphine for 50% off. No coupon code required. Only valid until Sunday 22 June.
