Are you a fan of Downton Abbey?

I'm gripped by Downton Abbey fever again. The fourth series is well underway here in the UK now and I still love it. I was a bit late to the Downton Abbey party as I missed series 1, 2 and 3 when they were on TV and only caught up when they came out on DVD but I'm not missing this series.

And I'm very excited to reveal my design for The Unofficial Downton Abbey Knits from Interweave. I love the fashions worn by the Crawley sisters in the TV series and this dress is inspired by the dresses they wore in the earlier series.
This lacy garment will be perfect as an overdress or on its own over a strappy camisole, which makes it perfect for hot summer days. The dress is worked in the round to the armholes, and then the front and back are worked separately to teh shoulders what are joined by working a three needle bind off, which means minimal finishing. The all-over lace pattern and gorgeous, soft, silky yarn adds to the luxurious and feminine feel of this garment.
This magazine has a collection of fabolous patterns which you can see here but it also includes articles about the time period Downton Abbey is set in and an article on Highclere Castle which is the property used in Downton Abbey.

There's an article on the Knitting Daily blog about the behind the scenes at the photoshoot. Read it here.
