Wayfarer Mittens & Paloma Scarf

About a week late but the January pattern for Amazing Luxury Knits has finally been published. This was one of my Christmas projects this year. I finished the mittens in time for the Boxing Day Hunt and I was wearing them. I'd hoped to get some pattern pictures with the horses but it was too many horses and people and too difficult.

So instead we went to the Eden project over the New Year weekend and got some great photos in the Mediterranean Biome. Doesn't the purple look great agains the while wall?

I suppose you don't really need to wear mitts to pick oranges but it makes an interesting back ground.
As you can see this pattern comes as a mitten and a fingerless mitt option. I knitted my pair in Quince & Co Chickadee which is a plump sportsweight (light dk in the UK) yarn. You can also use 4ply/fingering weight sock yarns. I'm making another pair in the small size in YarnAddict Bambino Sock and it knits to the same tension but the fabric is less dense.
The cable panel stays the same for both sizes and the rib is very stretchy. I knitted the larger size for me which will fit a large ladies hand and medium man's hand. The length is adjustable.

The Wayfarer Mittens are available as a single pattern and as part of The Amazing Luxury Knits subscription. Find out more about Amazing Luxury Knits here. Buy the pattern only here.
If you've already subscribed to Amazing Luxury Knits you should have been notified that the pattern is ready for download.

Paloma is another pattern we photographed at The Eden Project. Paloma has a long and a short version and is a crochet scarf worked in the round using some simple crochet stitches.
I used Debbie Bliss Paloma which is a chunky but very lightweight supersoft yarn, and a 12mm hook. As a result this scarf works up very, very quickly. You can easily make it in a weekend, perhaps even an evening.
I've worn my Paloma Scarf quite a few times now and it's warm & trendy.  Below is the shorter version:

So whether you're into knitting or crochet, there's a new pattern for you.
